Alfreda's Soul Food was a longtime Black-owned Houston restaurant with roots stretching back to 1964. For decades, the restaurant served Southern comfort food and became part of the city's Black culinary and cultural history.

Founded by the Green family and later operated by Troy and Marguerite Williams, Alfreda's built a reputation for traditional soul-food plates, family-style hospitality and recipes connected to generations of Southern cooking.

The restaurant's menu celebrated the flavors many diners associate with classic Black Southern kitchens, including oxtails, smothered turkey wings, fried catfish, chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits and homemade sides.
